Re: Request: Do not use InitDll/ExitDll & bundleEntry/bundleExit

there are special considerations *not* to rely on operating systems initializations of dynamic libraries. Would you mind sharing more information about this? There are indeed limitations to what you can do during DLL/bundle loading and unloading and you need to be careful about system calls at this...

Request: Do not use InitDll/ExitDll & bundleEntry/bundleExit

Hi, we are encountering many issues with plug-ins that rely on these functions to be called upon load and unload. To make it short, when a host application loads a plug-in that also acts as a host (we have plug-ins that also act as a host, like PatchWork for example) there is no way to call these fu...

Re: VST3 and MIDI CC pitfall

What are these many things? Are you sure that these things are not workarounds to do something an audio plug-in is not supposed to do? I am not sure who can define what a plug-in is or is not supposed to do... MIDI CC messages are just MIDI messages like others, so you may want to convert them to o...

Re: VST3 and MIDI CC pitfall

Unfortunately, it looks like many of our common customers do not share this point of view!

Also MIDI CC can be used for many things (not only parameter changes), so this is definitely an artificial limitation. VST3 is the only plug-in format that does not support MIDI natively.

Re: VST3 and MIDI CC pitfall

Yes, please give us back standard MIDI support instead of hacks! having more than 2000 parameters just to support MIDI CC and program change message is ridiculous. And it slows down everything for both hosts and plug-ins!

Re: VST MA questions?

Indeed. We have customer requests for this, but using a deprecated SDK/feature does not look like a good investment!

The best way would probably to support MIDI-only VST3 plug-ins instead of using yet another SDK btw.

Re: MIDI Program Change

We also managed to implement this so that our plug-ins finally receive program change messages in VST3, but for some reason, if the parameters have a program list attached, Cubase will send a dummy program change message upon project reload on channel 0 (for Virtual Instruments only)... It is probab...

Would anyone from Steinberg want to help? We just need a bit more information about the non standard implementation of this feature in Cubase/Windows to fix major issues for our customers...

"Always On Top" Major Issues on Windows

Hi, Most our plug-ins will create popup Windows to let the user enter values or change preferences. It appears that when the "Always On Top" feature of Cubase is enabled, all our non-modal popups appear behind the plug-in editor, so users cannot interact with them. After spending time debugging this...
