VST 4 soon?

Is it anticipated that there will be a VST 4 SDK released in the near future and what might that entail?

MIDI 2.0 is a new set of protocols, anything else? Is there anything missing from VST 3?

Language C++. From my view, you will need understand a [ pointers ], [ class ], [ inheritance ], [ virtual functions and inheritance ] (it is called polymorphism) and last [ templates ] (not a must but helpfull) . Just basics from everything I wrote, but more you know, it will be easier to work wit...

VST protocol suggestion/deeper integration between plugin and host - Colour Coding of keys, Drum/Note mapping, CC naming

Hi, I think in modern times, all of this should be automatic by way of developers coding into their plugins, and the DAW/VST host catching and displaying that information. For instance, colour coding of virtual keyboards or drumpads, should relay to the Cubase MIDI editor piano roll and drum editor....

%200 new to code - what language should I learn to make optimum VSTs

What language should I learn to make optimum VSTs and what specifically? Do I have to learn everything about this language in order to make VSTs? Or are there certain factions of this code that are only required and the rest I can skip?

thanks

Re: VST3 and MIDI CC pitfall

For Does this mean that GRM Tools will not be able to progress their plugin development beyond VST2.4? MIDI is a foundation aspect of GRM Tools and what they do - they could not exist without MIDI input - there is an entire experimental music and sound design community based around GRM tools and li...

AirWindows plugins don't reset properly, he says it's a problem on Steinbergs end

AIrWindows plugins don't reset to 0/center/etc properly when ctrl-clicking

He says his plugins are simply the most basic shell of a plugin in terms of UI and control, so that whatever is causing this, it's because how Steinberg/Cubase handles raw/GUI-less plugins...

Re: VST3 and MIDI CC pitfall

Hi, from my personal point of view, a plug-in should not handle MIDI-CC at all. It's the responsibility for the host to map input events to parameter changes. The host knows what external hardware is connected and which routings are active. A plug-in does not have the knowledge about this. As a plu...

Re: Suggestion: VCA/Fader Link integration between plugin and DAW

Would this be possible? I don't mean right now, just hypothetically, would this be possible to code between VST code and Cubase/3rd party DAWS?

Suggestion: VCA/Fader Link integration between plugin and DAW

I think it could be useful in some scenarios to be able to activate some sort of linking or VCA integration between a VSTis output channels, ie. It would mostly be utilized in VSTi's that have an internal mixer. The benefit would be, that in a VSTi instrument in which I've mixed the faders (multiple...
